Marvel Crisis Protocol: Convocation Affiliation Pack

Four sorcerers in one box, and one of the tidiest ways into a new affiliation the game offers. Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme is the heavyweight, The Ancient One and Clea bring the support and control that make Convocation tick, and Baron Mordo is the wild card who also plays for the Cabal. Three of the four are legal in the Defenders as well, so nothing here is stranded if you change direction later.

Convocation is a thinking player's affiliation. It leans on positioning, board control and knowing which effect to use before your opponent commits, rather than out-damaging anyone. That makes it a poor fit for a player who wants to charge in and roll dice, and a very good fit for someone who enjoys a puzzle. The weakness is real: mystics tend not to be tough, and a fast melee list that reaches them early can unpick the whole squad.

Because it is an affiliation pack rather than a character pack, you are getting most of a playable roster in one purchase, which makes it a reasonable second box after a core set. Add the Sanctum Sanctorum Terrain Expansion for a table to match, and the Dormammu Ultimate Encounter if you want a villain worthy of them.
