App Privacy Policies: Wars of Ozz Army Builder
Privacy Policy for Unofficial Wars of Ozz Army Builder
Last Updated: November 7, 2025
We’re gamers, just like you. We built this app to be a simple, useful tool for playing the "Wars of Ozz" wargame, which was created by the great Buck Sardu. We're not in the business of harvesting your data, and we believe in being upfront about what the app does. This policy is our commitment to you, in plain English.
The Short Version (The "Straight Scoop")
-
We do not collect any personal information like your name, email, or location.
-
Your army lists are saved only on your device. We can't see them.
-
The app uses Google's Firebase services to download game rules and sign you in anonymously. This is the only third-party service we use, and it's essential for keeping your data up-to-date.
-
That's it. No ads, no trackers, no funny business.
What Data the App Uses and Why
To be fully transparent, here is a detailed breakdown of every piece of data the app touches.
1. Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
-
What we collect: None. Zip. Zilch.
-
Why: We don't need it. This is an army builder, not a social network. We will never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or location.
2. Your Army Lists (User-Created Data)
-
What we collect: Your saved army lists, including unit names, points, and any custom rolls.
-
Where it's stored: This data is stored only on your device's local storage (using
AsyncStorage). -
Our Access: We do not have access to this data. It is never uploaded to our servers. If you delete the app, your army lists are deleted with it.
3. Anonymous Technical Data (The Firebase Part)
-
What we use: To keep the game rules up-to-date, the app uses two services from Google Firebase:
-
Firebase Anonymous Authentication: When you first use the app, Firebase assigns your device a random, anonymous ID. This ID is not linked to you personally, but it allows the app to securely connect to the database. We, the developers, cannot see this ID or connect it to you.
-
Firebase Firestore: This is the database where we store all the game rules, unit stats, and spell lists. The app needs to connect to this (using your anonymous ID) to download this data and ensure you always have the latest version.
-
-
Why: This is purely functional. It's the mechanism that lets us fix errors or add new units to the app without you having to re-download it from the Play Store.
Who We Share Data With
Nobody.
The only "sharing" that occurs is the anonymous technical data that is sent to Google's Firebase services so they can function. We do not sell data, share data with advertisers (there are no ads!), or give your anonymous ID to anyone else.
How to Delete Your Data
Since we don't store your personal data, there's nothing for you to delete from our servers.
To delete the army lists you've created, you can either:
-
Use the "Load Army" -> "Delete" function inside the app.
-
Clear the app's storage in your phone's Android settings.
-
Uninstall the application.
Children's Privacy
This app is intended for a general wargaming audience, which may include all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from anyone.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever have to make a significant change to this policy (like adding a new feature that does require data), we will update this document. By continuing to use the app, you agree to the new policy.
