Marvel Crisis Protocol: Dormammu Ultimate Encounter

Dormammu is the largest threat cost in this catalogue, and that number tells you he is not a character you slot into a normal squad and expect a fair game. This box is built around him in two modes: the Dark Intruder encounter, where two players cooperate against his incursion, and standard play, where his stat card and Team Tactic Cards let him be fielded properly.

The encounter is the reason to buy it. It comes with its own rulebook, tip cards, a Mystic Surge Deck, status tools and a large pile of tokens, plus terrain miniatures that reshape the board as the dimensional breach spreads. It is an evening's event rather than a pick-up game, and it is the closest this game gets to a cooperative experience.

Everything else in the box is scale. He is enormous, physically and in cost, so a matched-play list containing him is essentially him and a support crew, which is a genuinely difficult way to play and unforgiving of mistakes.

Take it if your group likes narrative nights and has at least two other players who will show up for one. Leave it if you play one-on-one competitive crises exclusively, because most of what is in the box will never come out.
